Fellow Brothers and Friends,
I am amazingly proud to announce that, for the second consecutive year, Beta Omega has captured the prestigious Knox Award of Beta Theta Pi.
We were one of only 11 Beta chapters to win the Knox (Beta's highest honor), and it was presented to us during General Convention in Washington DC the weekend of August 7th, 2010. Also, we took home the Sisson Award, Virginia Tech Academic Award, and the Hardin Leadership Development Award.
In addition to sharing this exciting news with all of you, I wanted to say a heartfelt "thank you" for supporting our chapter during the last year. Without guidance from our advisory team, Housing Corporation, UW IFC, and all of Beta Omega's alumni, this wouldn't have been possible. I am looking forward to expanding on these successes during Fall Quarter and am excited to work with all of you to continue to live out our "Men of Principle" mantra.
These honors are validation of former and current exec team efforts. Most notably, please take a second to recognize David Dever next time you see him. As the Scholarship/Awards chairman, he was responsible for assembling our entire application (about 175 pages). I did this last year, and I know the hefty time commitment it entails.
This award is a huge deal for us, and again, everyone involved in our chapter's operations helped make this possible. Sometimes the day-to-day grind gets hard, but at the end of it all, this award is a testament to the strength of the brotherhood of Beta Omega.
- Sean Burnstead, Beta Omega Chapter President
