The Knox was created in 1996 at the General Convention as a distinct honor to be bestowed upon only the best chapters in all of Betas Broad Domain. Since its inception some 10+ years ago, less than 33 chapters have received this award. This year, Beta Omega was one of 13 to receive it out of all 130+ chapters and colonies.
The requirements for the award are stringent and Beta Omega's final application (over 300 pages) was very well received by the judging committee. Just an idea of what is required: our Pledge class GPA must be higher than that of the all-fraternity pledge class GPA; we are required to have a certain number of members involved in on-campus organizations outside of Betas; each active must average 20 hours of service per year; 85% of pledges must be initiated; our Risk Management rating must be "Excellent"; we must have multiple publications (press releases and newsletters); and we must outstanding alumni interaction.
These are just a handful of the 30+ detailed requirements that must be fulfilled, documented and confirmed. It is the chapters hope that this is a great start to a long line of Knox Awards for years to come!
