Every spring, our chapter participates in one of the largest fundraising efforts at the University of Washington. Relay for Life is an overnight event that brings our community together to help support the American Cancer Society and its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health problem. In conjunction with our annual philanthropy, a sorority soccer tournament called Dragon Cup, Beta Theta Pi is the #1 fundraising team at the University of Washington.
On May 22 –23, 2010, the Beta house will stay awake for 24 hours, walking around Husky Stadium’s track. This is an exciting and encouraging competition, with dozens of teams from the University competing. Furthermore, it deepens the bonds our members share with each other; which is rooted in a strong commitment to philanthropic efforts.
We write to you today in the hope that you will join us in making a contribution to our Relay For Life philanthropy. Our actives are especially motivated this year as we make efforts to both contribute to the American Cancer Society and support one of our house’s sophomores who lost his mother to cancer this fall.
With a team goal of $15,000, we hope to improve upon our funds raised last year. In order to succeed, we are seeking your support and pledge towards this dire cause. Large or small, every contribution makes a difference. On our team's webpage you can view our progress as well as the total progress of the UW relay and we are currently the top donor out of 201 registered teams!
Please help us achieve our goal and keep the momentum going. Contributions can be made via the website as outlined below or you can mail a check made payable to the American Cancer Society at Beta’s address below.
